Our services in brief 

Government

  • Archives Office staff can provide advice and information on the management, care and disposal of records; including the systematic transfer of records to the Archives Office.
  • Resources permitting, records held in the Archives Office may be able to be searched by Archives Office staff to provide information for government agencies.
  • Files and other records transferred to the Archives Office may, within some limitations,  be retrieved by the agency for consultation.
  • Certified copies of records can be made for legal and other formal purposes.

Public

  • Lists of records held, guides and indexes are compiled by Archives Office staff for the use of researchers.
  • Anyone may request and examine non-restricted records in our public access facility. In order to preserve the unique original records these may only be available as copies (usually microfilm).
  • Archives Office staff are available to help people with enquiries and research.
  • Resources permitting, written enquiries may be dealt with by Archives Office staff for those unable to visit the office in person, although there are limits to the amount of time that can be spent on individual enquiries.
  • Copies of records can be made in various formats at the discretion of the Archives Office, and for costs specified in our fees and charges schedule.
