Legislative and legal framework

This section of our site contains the documents that provide the formal legal and regulatory framework for government recordkeeping which derive from the Archives Act 1983. They provide, on behalf of the Tasmanian community, guidance and policy for the management of State and local government records and their ultimate destruction or retention as the State's archives.

The Archives Act 1983 and the Archives Regulations 2004 also provide the legal framework in which we operate.
